 | Steve Ryan: No-Huddle Offense (DVD) Brand: Championship Productions Model: FD-3274A Part Number: FD-3274A Featuring Steve Ryan,
Morningside College Head Coach
Morningside College finished the 2008 NAIA season:
* #1 in the nation in Scoring Offense (48.6 Pts/G)
* #1 in the nation in Passing Efficiency (185.2)
Coach Ryan explains the benefits of utilizing a no-huddle offense before instructing how to properly implement these strategies into your own program. A no-huddle offense can bring success to your team because it allows you to control the speed of the game and forces the defense to play the game exactly as you practice it each and every day. You gain control of the defense's substitution while also getting a peek at what your opponent is doing behind the scenes. Another benefit that Coach Ryan has observed is that his players now practice more efficiently - an advantage every team can use. He shares the three basic forms of no-huddle offense he uses in his program. Each form requires a different amount of time on the field, however they all share the same trait of giving you control of momentum inside the game. In addition, Coach Ryan narrates game and practice footage, showing you how to effectively implement this into your own program.

St. Xavier (OH) HS Head Coach;
2005 Ohio Division I state champions.
Ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today following the 2005 season
Coach Specht wanted his defense to be able to leverage receivers, which is why he uses the 3-3 Stack system. This is a matching zone philosophy because all players play a match up zone. His 'Fire and Storm' coverages enable the defense to play tighter, outside leverage man coverage on the widest receivers while playing a tight match up zone underneath. It also allows additional pressure on the quarterback without putting too much pressure on secondary defenders. With the popularity of the spread offense, this defense makes it possible to play tighter coverage, but rushing only three or four defenders. Specht details the key teaching points of the Fire Coverage's rules and responsibilities. Other topics covered are 3 x 1 coverage adjustments, weak side blitz, 2 x 2 and 2 x 2 motion. Storm coverage is similar to Fire, except only four rushers are involved instead of five. Specht also discusses rules and responsibilities for Cover 2. In conclusion, progression drills are diagrammed and explained for this defensive system.

* #1 in the nation in Passing Efficiency (185.2)
Morningside College head football coach Steve Ryan has been running the wide receiver screen game for the past seven years and it has quickly become one of the things his team does best within their effective offense. This allows him to dictate the defense and helps to control blitzing. He covers three separate screens in depth, each one offering distinct advantages and giving you an edge over your opponent on the field. The hash screen, bubble screen, and middle screen are all covered in detail on the whiteboard to help you understand their strengths and show you potential weaknesses to watch out for. Georgia Military College has made a habit of dominating offenses with the 3-5-3 defense. In this DVD, Coach Burks diagrams a number of effective ways to shut down the Wing-T. The Wing-T is designed to create assignment conflicts within the defense. Burks shows how to counter this philosophy by attacking the offensive backfield and forcing the offense to make decisions and adjustments that will neutralize the strengths of the offense. This DVD covers in-depth how to defend the power sweep, waggle pass, dive play, lead play and the wingback counter all of which are the key plays in the success of any Wing-T offense. By slanting, attacking gaps, and making plays in the backfield, you can force offensive backs to bounce sideline to sideline. Coach Burks diagrams plays versus the 3-5-3's base, tuff, solid and solid head fronts and also includes blitzes that will combat the key plays in the Wing-T. He keeps the defensive back coverages simple and ties them into each blitz. All of his blitzes are simple, yet effective and will make game planning difficult for your opponents. By utilizing the five fronts of the 3-5-3 (base, solid, under, tough, and double eagle) offenses will have a very difficult time identifying from where the pressure will come. Since 1975, many trendy football offenses have surfaced and become popular but Coach JT Curtis, coach of one of the most successful HS programs ever, has not changed a thing with the style and substance of the successful Veer Offense. Game footage and practice footage, along with marker board diagrams, clearly show how simple the offense is to teach and run. It is not a secret that the success of any offense starts with the offensive line, and the blocking assignments for the five main Veer Offense plays are covered in detail. The inside veer, outside veer, cutback play, ride pass and ride pass throwback blocking assignments are all covered versus the 50, 50 slide, 4-3, 4-4, 6-1, and 6-2 defenses. O-Line coach Mike Robertson covers the basic techniques for offensive lineman starting with stance and also covers, in detail, the combo blocks and scoop blocks the Patriots use to confuse and dominate defenses. Four board drills are covered to help develop offensive lineman. This is a "must have" DVD and complements Controlling Defensives with the Veer Offense!

Coach Specht has had great successful with the 3-3 and his stunts and blitzes add strength to the system. The four-man game is coupled with the 'Storm' coverage and the five-man game is matched to the 'Fire' coverage. As the Strong Edge Storm is diagrammed, each player's role is discussed and adjustments in the 2-2 coverage are highlighted. 'Strong nasty' is a call where the end loops to the C gap while the jet blitzes underneath in the B gap. A coverage that has been successful in Cover 2 is called 'Sick Em Spy', which puts a lot of pressure on the quarterback. A pressure blitz package is available when six or seven rushers are needed to pressure the offense. On 'Iowa strong web' the will backer blitzes the B gap. The information presented on the rush and blitzes will bolster the basic 3-3 defense that has been a winning combination for Coach Specht's teams.

Coach Curtis covers running back and quarterback assignments in detail and also the alignments in executing the triple option. He also diagrams five plays which will allow you to completely implement the Veer Offense. The plays covered are the outside veer, inside veer, ride pass, ride pass throwback and the cutback play.

St. Xavier (OH) HS Head Coach;
2005 Ohio Division I state champions.
Ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today following the 2005 season
This 3-3-5 defensive package has a simple philosophy of playing out of an odd front. The odd front is beneficial because you can angle and slant into a reduction. This defense also makes it easier to fit personnel into the scheme and allows you to adjust to formation. Ultimately, Coach Specht likes to keep it simple and play fast. With the 3-3-5 there can be five or six defensive backs in the game at all times. The base defensive alignment has the ends head up on the tackles with the backers stacked up behind the down lineman. The safeties will align 7 yards deep to the shade of the tight end. The secondary creates an illusion that you are five across and 7 yards deep. The key feature of this defense is the "adjuster," who moves around a lot and is usually the most complete player on the team. Against the Spread, the Jet and Will backer move on the line, giving it a five-man look. Other adjustments Specht covers are the 'Sparrow', 'Bluff', 'Falcon', 'I Bluff' and 'Ninja' front. This DVD is jammed with diagrams and teaching points for this highly effective defensive scheme.

 | J. T. Curtis: Defending the Spread with the 50 Defense (DVD) Brand: Championship Productions Model: FD-2828C Part Number: FD-2828C with J.T. Curtis,
John Curtis Christian School (LA) Head Coach,
2006 USA Today National HS Coach of the Year;
21 State HS Football titles
Using a variety of assistant coaches, Coach Curtis begins with the base package for the 50 defense. In the Doubles Out of Under, the defense works to get the free rusher alone against the runner where he can make big plays. Also, it uses a combo concept if the receivers run crossing routes. Trips Out of Under and Trips Out of the Gun are different looks for the 50, which is diagrammed on the white board. Walking the ends out to space is the key to this defense. It gives you more options and different looks. In the nickel alignment, Curtis emphasizes lining up your free rusher to the running back's side. Defending the empty set is another emphasis of this base package. The blitz is an option but instead, Curtis changes the location of the rush. The hash mark game is also a favorite aspect of this defense. The goal is to shrink the area to the boundary from 17 feet to just 10 feet. Players must be athletic enough to be able to wall receivers to the boundary. When players understand general concepts, the added elements of the defense add to its strength.

As defenses adjust to the tight zone, Karas instructs you to switch to the C-gap wide zone play. In this play, the running back will cross the quarterback and read the outside defender and decide to "bang" straight up or "bounce" to the outside. Karas also shares an option variation, including a quarterback read version of this play. The last play that Karas covers is his 36 Dart play. In this play, the weakside tackle pulls and becomes a lead blocker for the running back. C.W. Post College Head Coach;
4X Northeast-10 Conference Champions,
3X NCAA Division II playoff qualifier
Coach Collins is committed to the 8 man front, "G" defense. A big part of this defense's success is the play of inside linebackers. In this DVD, Collins breaks down technique and coaching emphasis for developing solid inside linebackers. He begins by highlighting the proper stance. Collins believes that good players prepare before every snap to afford them a chance to make the play. To that extent he covers the pre-snap reads that should be made. A key concept for reads that Collins teaches is to "fill open windows" and "scrape closed doors" in a fast flow. The scrape is a linebacker technique that requires hands on the guard and use of the press technique. Other reads discussed include the full flow read and the rock flow. Linebackers are taught to play only with eyes, feet and hands and are drilled accordingly. Technique drills include the force, scrape and press technique, and are illustrated by practice players. Additional drills are used to demonstrate backfield flow and gaps, leverage and play against receiver routes. From the marker board to the drill footage, Collins examines the play of inside linebackers within his defensive scheme. Improved linebacker play will help your defense and make it difficult for opponents to score on you!

Coach Swartwood teaches a simple and effective way to install the inside running game for the Fly Offense. A large part of his success with the Fly Offense has come from the inside run game. Swartwood covers six inside running plays in great detail. Each play is based off the Fly Sweep taught in The Fly Offense: Basics for Success. The Fly Sweep gets the linebackers flowing horizontally instead of upfield, which opens the field for the inside run game. The seven plays are taught in a series of three steps. Swartwood diagrams the play on a markerboard, then he details the play on the video board showing position-by-position responsibilities, and then the use of game footage shows you the play being executed from a sideline and end zone view. The six inside run plays in this instructional football DVD are "go call", trap, lead, belly, gut and counter. Swart also discusses multiple variations off each play. 2008 Henry Iba Award,
Basketball Times 2008 'Coach of the Year,'

Good spread offense results begin with the defensive rebound and an aggressive fast break. Coach Davis' offense puts maximum pressure on the defense and will lead to changing defenses by the opponent. He begins with the outlet pass and specific lane responsibilities in offensive transition. Early offensive opportunities are encouraged if available. From their zone spots, each player is in line to immediately run his lane. The 5-0 break serves as a warm-up drill then progresses into live 5-on-5 play. Once in the half court, early action will depend on the defense, and Davis presents a couple of options. He shares a special dribble spread play once the ball has been reversed twice. With the court spread the offense can pick it's driving opportunities to get to the basket or dish to an open three-point shooter. The special "2" play is another scoring option within the spread offense.
